Explorer Post 528 is a program of the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life/Venturing section in the Greater Niagara Frontier Region. The post is sponsored by the Evans Center Volunteer Fire Company for young adults between the ages of 14 and 18. The objectives of this program are to promote the protection of life and property, teach teamwork and camaraderie, and to show service to the community. Explorers will learn the skills and procedures of firefighting by participating in all fire department activities including drills and county classes. However, Explorers do not respond to fires or other emergencies or participate in live fire training or firefighting/rescue operations. Upon reaching the age of eighteen, an explorer may elect to apply for membership into the department as a regular active firefighter and sent to basic firefighter and then advanced training. Look for more information on Post 528 here soon. |
