Dispatcher Has Visual on Structure Fire Mid-Town - February 22, 2000 --- Town of Evans Emergency Dispatcher Pat Garrigan was looking out the window of the dispatch office at the Evans Municipal Center when he saw smoke coming from a nearby Erie Road residence. Garrigan promptly alerted Evans Center and Lake Erie Beach fire fighters to a structure fire around 10:40am on February 22, 2000. First arriving units found a vacant single story frame residence with smoke showing from the front windows. Utilizing their thermal imaging camera, Evans Center's attack crew quickly located the seat of the fire in the kitchen wall and extinguished the flames using less than 50 gallons of water. Evans Center's Chief Dennis Allen took command and called for a ladder truck from the Angola Fire Department and a tanker from the Brant Fire Co. due to frozen hydrants on Erie Road. Overhaul included pulling ceiling tiles and venting the roof of the structure. No injuries were reported.
